A musical journey through Greenwich Village, from the 1800s to the present: a concert by young musicians from The Third Street Music School Settlement, America’s longest-running community school. Founded in 1894 by Emilie Wagner, its goal was to "help poor children of the Lower East Side with music to provide a source of spiritual and cultural nourishment, inspire achievement in its young students, and serve as a universal language for the community’s Jewish, Irish, Italian, Russian, Greek and Hungarian immigrants”.
Third Street offers students of all ages and abilities the opportunity to become the best musicians, dancers, singers, and composers they can be. With a mission to provide access to high-quality music education to all people, no matter their financial situation, Third Street is a music school for everyone.
