The Village Trip kicks off its seventh festival on September 19 with 10 days of music, tours, talks, comedy, art, film, poetry, and oysters. Celebrating culture and community in Greenwich Village and the East Village/Lower East Side, it will demonstrate that these neighborhoods retain their role as a creative cauldron for the city and the world—a function that is more important now than ever before.
This year’s lineup features events that address critical issues facing New York today, such as rising sea levels, a new McCarthyism, and freedom of expression. As always, though, there will be all kinds of music (jazz, folk, rock, soul, gospel, classical), art (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture), and entertainment for all ages.
Come to the Village September 19-28 and see how today’s creatives are remixing Leonard Bernstein’s music and words, rethinking Allen Ginsberg’s Howl, reviving New York’s waterfront, and rediscovering Bob Dylan’s painting teacher.
