Songs of New York City’s Yiddish theater, Sephardic folklore and their global roots will welcome in the new year. Come to listen, sing along, and dance to the music of both the Ashkenazic and Sephardic communities which continue to enrich the music of the world.

Since the first immigrants arrived in New York from Central and Eastern Europe almost 500 years ago, music has been an integral part of Jewish life, not just at Temple. It both describes and symbolises the Jewish experience, in good times and bad, and it has had a profound influence on the development of both popular and classical music.

Welcome in the new year with an exhilarating evening of music spanning Yiddish theater and Broadway, jazz, rock and rap. Come hear the roots of all these musical genres, many of which go back thousands of years, in a thrilling participatory concert led by Avram Pengas, guitar and bouzouki maestro, and David Amram, “the renaissance man of American music” and Artist Emeritus of The Village Trip.

They are joined by Elysa Sunshine on bass and vocals, Nick Mandoukos on guitar, bouzouki and vocals, and Seido Salifoski on percussion and dumbek.

Avram Pengas and David Amram have been making music together for fifty years and it's always fun! Bring the kids!
