On Sunday September 10, The Village Trip will celebrate Ukrainian culture<\/strong> and honor the bravery of the Ukrainian people with events across the East Village which will raise money for the Ukraine Children\u2019s Action Project<\/strong>, founded by Irwin and Karen Redlener.<\/p>\n

Ukraine Children's Action Project<\/h4>\n

\"Karen\"UCAPUCAP<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0founded\u00a0by pediatrician Irwin Redlener and children\u2019s advocate Karen Redlener, less than three months after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Its principal mission is to help address widespread psychological trauma and educational disruption experienced by the millions of children who were able to escape the extreme violence in eastern and southern Ukraine. In addition to addressing these major challenges, UCAP has continued to respond to a host of humanitarian needs, including purchasing back-up generators and winter clothes for children. The Redleners travel frequently to Ukraine and Poland to meet personally with every program that UCAP funds.<\/p>\n

Their core commitment to donors? On the ground, hands on, transparent\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

At the heart of this special fundraising day are St Mark\u2019s in-the-Bowery<\/strong> and Veselka<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 landmarks in historic Little Ukraine, which today is a sea of blue and gold flags\u00a0\u2013 with whom The Village Trip will be partnering.<\/p>\n

The day will include a\u00a0Play-a-Thon for Ukraine<\/strong><\/a>, sponsored by The Village Trip and District 1 Manhattan of the New York State Music Teachers Association and Steinway & Sons. Musicians of all stripes \u2013 students, amateur and professional \u2013 and of all ages are invited to perform. They will undertake to raise sponsorships from family and friends, classmates and colleagues. Veselka will provide light refreshments for the performers.<\/p>\n

During the afternoon there will be a chamber music interlude - a performance inside St Mark\u2019s by special guest artists.<\/a><\/p>\n

In the evening, DROM will become the center of activity<\/strong> as The Village Trip presents a special concert headlined by Kommuna Lux<\/strong><\/a> direct from Odessa and supported by surprise guests from the local music community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

The Village Trip, working with Veselka<\/strong><\/a>, will be encouraging\u00a0Ukrainian churches, the Ukrainian\u00a0Museum,\u00a0and other Ukrainian businesses to participate in this important initiative to help children whose lives have been torn apart by war and family separation.<\/p>\n

Music is an international language that knows no boundaries.\u00a0Music \u2013\u00a0like\u00a0all the arts \u2013\u00a0has the power to entertain, elevate and inspire, in even the darkest hours.<\/h3>\n
