Sixty years ago, John Cage premiered Erik Satie\u2019s Vexations<\/em>\u00a0 at the Pocket Theatre in the East Village with the Pocket Theatre Relay Team. Satie called for 840 repetitions of his composition, a piece in four iterations, which depending on tempo can take up to 24 hours. In Cage\u2019s production, a very young David Del Tredici was one of the performers and he returns 60 years later, along with Vexations<\/em> veteran Richard Cameron-Wolfe, our festival pianists, and a group of formidable faculty performers and young artists from NYU. Del Tredici will play the final repetition at 9pm marking the grand opening of The Village Trip 2023, and a celebration of the brilliant new Paulson Center.<\/p>\n
